FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Grand, upright and digital pianos offered to the Harrisburg-area community at significant discounts, perpetuating the instrument loan program for Messiah University’s Department of Music.
MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — September 21, 2026 — The Rockley Family Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports music education, will hold the Messiah University Piano Sale Thursday, October 22 through Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Calvin and Janet High Center for Worship and Performing Arts, One University Avenue, on the Messiah University campus. Through a partnership with the foundation, the Department of Music has had the use of new first-class pianos on a no-cost basis for the 2025–2026 academic year; those instruments and others made available are sold at a significant discount from new retail pricing to perpetuate the program.
A selection of grands, baby grands, digital player grands, vertical (upright) pianos and digital pianos will be available from makers including Yamaha, Bösendorfer, Estonia, Cunningham and Clavinova, with a select group of Steinway & Sons pianos. Most instruments are less than one year old, include a 5- to 10-year service contract, and are tuned and ready to enjoy. Delivery and special no-interest financing are available on site.
“The pianos Messiah’s students have played all year go home with local families, and the loan program starts again with new instruments,” said Tobin Rockley, Director/President of the Rockley Family Foundation. “It is a first-class piano at a price you would not find in a showroom, and it keeps music education properly equipped.”
Private appointments are available Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning, October 22–24, and give buyers priority selection and price reductions before public shopping begins. Appointments can be scheduled at rockleyfamilyfoundation.org/Messiah or by calling or texting (717) 229-6320; virtual appointments via Zoom are available on request. The sale opens to the public, no appointment needed, on Saturday, October 24 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
In some cases, a portion of a purchase may be considered a charitable contribution to the Rockley Family Foundation, used to support the Messiah University Department of Music, and may be tax deductible; the deductible portion would be limited to the excess of the amount paid over the fair market value at retail of the goods purchased. Buyers should consult their own tax advisor as to individual deductibility.
