FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Sale of gently used pianos, violins, violas and cellos at the Princeton High School Performing Arts Center supports the Princeton Public Schools music program

PRINCETON, N.J. — October 7, 2026 — The Rockley Family Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports music education, will hold the Princeton Public Schools Musical Instrument Sale Thursday, November 5 through Saturday, November 7, 2026, at the Princeton High School Performing Arts Center, 151 Moore Street, at the corner of Franklin Avenue and Walnut Lane in Princeton. The sale is open to the public, and proceeds support the Princeton Public Schools music program.

During the 2026 school year the Princeton Public Schools music department has had the use of many new acoustic pianos at no cost through its partnership with the foundation. Those instruments, along with instruments provided to other institutions and others made available by the foundation, will be sold to perpetuate the loan program. The selection includes grand pianos, baby grand pianos, digital player grand pianos, upright pianos, digital pianos, violins, violas and cellos, from starter to professional level, by makers such as Yamaha, C. Bechstein, Knabe, Roland and Italia Violins, with a select group of restored Steinway & Sons pianos. Most instruments have been in service for less than one year, have been tuned, and include a five- to ten-year service contract. Delivery and special no-interest financing are available on site.

“The pianos our students have been playing in Princeton classrooms all year are the same instruments families can take home from this sale,” said Tobin Rockley, Director/President of the Rockley Family Foundation. “Every purchase keeps the loan program going and puts quality instruments back into the district’s music rooms.”

Private appointments are available Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning, November 5–7, alongside district faculty and staff, giving shoppers priority selection and price reductions before public shopping begins. Appointments can be reserved at rockleyfamilyfoundation.org/princeton or by calling or texting 609-205-5186. Virtual appointments via Zoom are available on request. The final sale day, Saturday, November 7, is open to walk-in shoppers from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., no appointment needed.

If a portion of the purchase price is considered a charitable contribution to the Rockley Family Foundation, the deductible portion would be limited to the excess of the amount paid over the fair market value at retail of the goods purchased. Buyers should consult their own tax adviser as to individual deductibility.
