FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Steinway, Bösendorfer, Yamaha and heirloom-class vintage pianos on sale at the Music Center at Strathmore — proceeds support Strathmore’s Bloom education initiatives and free Student Concerts

NORTH BETHESDA, Md. — August 18, 2026 — Strathmore is partnering again with the Rockley Family Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting music education, to hold the Strathmore Musical Instrument Sale Thursday through Saturday, August 27–29, 2026, at the Music Center at Strathmore, 5301 Tuckerman Lane. Practically new pianos, digital pianos and string instruments will be available for public purchase, providing important financial support for Strathmore’s Bloom education initiatives — including its annual free Student Concerts, which introduce more than 24,000 children each year to live performance in the Concert Hall.

The sale features a large selection of grands, baby grands, digital player grands, vertical (upright) pianos, digital pianos, violins, violas and cellos from makers including Yamaha, Bösendorfer, Seiler, Cristofori, Roland, Steinway & Sons and Italia Violins. This year a specially curated selection of vintage Steinway & Sons, Bösendorfer and Seiler heirloom-class pianos will be included. Most instruments are less than a year old, tuned and ready to be enjoyed. Delivery and technical services will be provided by Jordan Kitts Music, special no-interest financing is available on site, and in most cases a portion of the purchase may be considered a charitable contribution to the Rockley Family Foundation and may be tax-deductible.

“Strathmore is one of the great music venues in the country, and every instrument that leaves that hall helps put more children in front of live music,” said Tobin Rockley, Director/President of the Rockley Family Foundation. “We’re proud to be back for another year.”

The sale is by appointment Thursday, August 27 through Saturday, August 29, with Saturday as the final sale day; appointments give buyers priority in selection and pricing, and virtual appointments via Zoom are available. To schedule, visit https://www.rockleyfamilyfoundation.org/Strathmore or call or text 301-760-7481. Strathmore is accessible via Metro’s Red Line at Grosvenor-Strathmore station (allow extra time for the shuttle bus between Friendship Heights and North Bethesda during scheduled closures); parking is available in the Metro garage and at meters along Tuckerman Lane.
