FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Steinway, Yamaha, Seiler and other instruments used on campus this year offered to the public at significant discounts — sale sustains UCCS’s no-cost piano program
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — August 18, 2026 — The Rockley Family Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports music education, will hold the UCCS Musical Instrument Sale Thursday through Saturday, September 10–12, 2026, in the Ent Center for the Arts on the University of Colorado Colorado Springs campus, 5225 North Nevada Avenue. Through its partnership with the foundation, UCCS has had the use of new first-class pianos and digital pianos at no cost for the 2025–2026 school year; those instruments and others made available through the partnership will be sold to perpetuate the program.
A large selection of grands, baby grands, digital player grands, vertical (upright) pianos, hybrid pianos, digital pianos, violins, violas and cellos will be available, from starter to professional level and from makers including Steinway & Sons, Yamaha, Seiler, Roland and Italia Violins. Most instruments are less than one year old, include a 5- to 10-year service contract, and are tuned and ready to go. Delivery and special no-interest financing are available on site, and in most cases a substantial portion of the purchase may be considered a charitable contribution to the Rockley Family Foundation and may be tax-deductible.
“This is how the loan program sustains itself — students play first-class instruments all year, then the community gets them at a fraction of retail and the next class gets new ones,” said Tobin Rockley, Director/President of the Rockley Family Foundation. “Colorado Springs is home turf for us, and we look forward to it every year.”
The sale is by appointment Thursday, September 10 through Saturday, September 12; appointments give buyers priority in selection and pricing, and virtual appointments via Zoom are available. The public is also welcome on the final sale day, Saturday, September 12, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. — no appointment needed. To schedule, visit https://www.rockleyfamilyfoundation.org/UCCS or call or text (719) 302-4636. Please park in Lot 576.
Since 2009, more than $30 million in donations have been made through the Rockley Family Foundation to nonprofit and educational organizations. The foundation conducts dozens of fundraising instrument sales each year with music departments and nonprofits nationwide; each event is designed to benefit the host organization and, ultimately, music education programs in the local community.
