FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Grand pianos, uprights, digital pianos, violins, violas and cellos will be sold at significant discounts, with proceeds funding scholarships and programs at the Harry W. Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology.

RICHARDSON, Texas — September 14, 2026 — The Rockley Family Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports music education, will hold the UT-Dallas Musical Instrument Sale Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 8–10, at the Davidson-Gundy Alumni Center, 800 W. Campbell Road, on the University of Texas at Dallas campus. The sale is made possible by a partnership between the Harry W. Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology and the foundation. Musical instruments provided to the Bass School’s music programs will be sold at a significant discount from manufacturers’ suggested retail prices, and proceeds will help fund scholarships, programming and other vital resources for student musicians.

A large selection of grand pianos, baby grands, digital player grands, vertical (upright) pianos, hybrid pianos, digital pianos, violins, violas and cellos will be available, ranging from starter to professional level and including instruments from makers such as Yamaha, Steinway & Sons, Bösendorfer, Seiler, Disklavier, Clavinova and Italia Violins. Most instruments are less than one year old, include a five-to-10-year service contract, and are tuned and ready to enjoy.

“North Texas families will find everything from a first piano for a beginner to a concert grand in one room, and every purchase puts money directly into scholarships and programs for Bass School students,” said Tobin Rockley, Director/President of the Rockley Family Foundation. “It is a rare chance to buy a fine instrument at a real discount while supporting music education in your own community.”

Private appointments are available Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 8–10, and give buyers priority selection and price reductions before the public sale opens. Appointments can be scheduled at rockleyfamilyfoundation.org/UTD or by calling or texting 972-645-5491. Virtual appointments via Zoom are available on request. The final sale day, Saturday, Oct. 10, is open to the public from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with no appointment needed. Visitors should use Parking Lot PS1.

Delivery and special no-interest financing are available on-site. In most cases, a substantial portion of a purchase may be considered a charitable contribution to the Rockley Family Foundation and may be tax deductible; buyers should consult their own tax adviser regarding the deductibility of any contribution.
